Erik ten Hag has meticulously prepared 22 players for the showdown against Man City in London to play the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
A short video shared has revealed the names Ten Hag called up for the journey to London to play the FA Cup final against Man City. In the video, familiar names such as Casemiro, Diogo Dalot, Rasmus Hojlund, and Amad Diallo can be seen, who have impressed in recent weeks.
Squad list of 22 players for the showdown against Man City:
Goalkeepers: Onana, Bayindir, Heaton
Defenders: Dalot, Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Martínez, Evans, Kambwala, Lindelöf
Midfielders: Casemiro, Mainoo, Eriksen, McTominay, Amrabat, Mount, Fernandes
Forwards: Amad, Antony, Garnacho, Rashford, Højlund
However, eagle-eyed fans noticed that forward Martial was not present. The 28-year-old striker had been seen training with the MU squad in high spirits, but did not join the team on this trip to London.
Journalist Samuel Luckhurst of Manchester Evening News confirmed Martial’s absence: “Anthony Martial is not in the United squad as they head to London. It appears his last appearance for the club was on December 9th against Bournemouth.”
The 28-year-old forward will leave Manchester United when his contract expires this summer. Previously, Martial has struggled with injuries throughout his nine-year tenure at Old Trafford. In fact, his last game for the club was against Bournemouth on December 9th.
Martial underwent groin surgery in January, and after a 13-week recovery period, the French player recently returned to full training. However, the opportunity for Martial to contribute in one final match for the Red Devils is no longer available.
Nonetheless, Martial’s absence does not significantly affect Ten Hag’s squad. Hojlund is regaining his form, and he will be the primary hope for MU fans.
