FC Barcelona is showing clear interest in young forward Nico Williams by having Deco, the club’s sporting director, meet with the player’s representative.
According to Jijantes, Deco, the sporting director of Barcelona, had a meeting with the representative of young talent Nico Williams in Zaragoza to discuss contract terms for the Spanish and Athletic Bilbao attacker. The Blaugrana have been linked with the young winger for a long time and are now trying to finalize the transfer ahead of Premier League giants Chelsea and Arsenal.
Earlier this week, The Athletic reported that both Arsenal and Chelsea remain very interested in signing the winger, who has shone for La Roja and played a key role in helping the national team win their fourth Euro title in history.
Nico Williams also has a very close relationship with Barcelona players, notably Lamine Yamal. The Athletic Bilbao player and Yamal formed an angelic wing pair for the Spanish national team during the Euro 2024 campaign, often leaving defenders in the dust with their incredible speed and technical foundation.
In addition, Joan Laporta, the current president of Barca, has also shown interest in securing the services of the 22-year-old player.
This was confirmed by Laporta when he shared earlier last week: “Economically, we can commit to signing Nico Williams. Nico is a player I like very much. We are working with Hansi Flick on potential signings. Now we must let sporting director Deco complete the deals we are working on.”
With Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal creating a miracle for the Spanish national team at Euro 2024, Barcelona fans will hope that this duo can recreate that magic in the club’s jersey in the upcoming 2024-25 season.
