Erik ten Hag will lead Manchester United for the last time at Wembley next Saturday in the FA Cup final because the Dutch coach will leave the club this summer, as confirmed by Gianluca Di Marzio, via SoccerNews.nl.
The Red Devils are in search of a new manager and will undergo changes even if Erik ten Hag ends the FA Cup final with a victory over Manchester City.
According to the press in England, the future of the 53-year-old coach has been thrown into turmoil as Manchester United finished the season in 8th place in the Premier League table, with a negative goal difference.
Furthermore, the Red Devils will miss out on European competition next season if they fail to defeat Manchester City in the FA Cup final this Saturday.
Several reputable newspapers in England have unanimously asserted that Manchester United has been in contact with various talented strategists to take over the role after Ten Hag’s departure, including Kieran McKenna (manager of Ipswich Town), England national team manager Gareth Southgate, Thomas Tuchel, and most recently Mauricio Pochettino, as the Argentine coach parted ways with Chelsea.
Di Marzio said: “McKenna is a notable figure in the coaching world, having had a fantastic season at Ipswich Town. He is the number one choice at Brighton & Hove Albion, but he has also spoken with Manchester United. At the end of the season, United will part ways with Ten Hag.”
“Manchester United has also looked at a few other coaches. And the target is Mauricio Pochettino. De Zerbi is also on the list. If he [McKenna] goes to Chelsea, United will pursue Pochettino. But one thing is certain: They will let Erik Ten Hag leaves.”
