The French superstar stated that he is fit and healthy amidst concerns about his injury prior to Euro 2024.
Last week, L’Equipe reported that the striker was having issues with his back. The Real Madrid newcomer had been questioned by the media about his chances of participating in Euro 2024. However, the 25-year-old quickly dismissed any discussions about his injury. He said (via GOAL):
“My injury status? I’m feeling very good.”
Meanwhile, France’s coach Didier Deschamps reiterated similar sentiments and added:
“Kylian Mbappe had an issue in the last match (a 3-0 win against Luxembourg) and yesterday, before training, there was a significant bruise on his knee.”
“Mbappe has been treated, and today he feels much better. But even if Mbappe wants to play, there is no risk at all.”
Mbappe’s injury has been clarified, confirming his availability for Euro 2024. France begins their Euro 2024 campaign against Austria on June 18. Following that, they will face the Netherlands and Poland in their next two group stage matches to secure qualification to the knockout stages.
Earlier this month, Kylian Mbappe spoke to the media, declaring that the Euros are tougher than the FIFA World Cup. The 1998-born forward also mentioned that teams at the Euros face more pressure because they know each other well and play a similar style of football:
“The Euros are very complex. For me, they are tougher than the World Cup, even though there is more pressure at the World Cup. All the teams at the Euros know each other; we always play against each other. In terms of tactics, it’s very similar in football.”
Mbappe, who scored a hat-trick in the FIFA World Cup 2022 final, ultimately lost to Argentina after a penalty shootout.
