Manchester United is actively bolstering their midfield as stars like Casemiro and McTominay may leave.
Manchester United is preparing to make a £17 million bid to recruit Colombian international Richard Rios, according to journalist Rudy Galetti. Coach Erik ten Hag’s team is looking to strengthen their squad after finishing eighth in the Premier League last season.
Following a slow start to the summer transfer window, Old Trafford has become bustling with multiple deals in progress. Manchester United has completed the signings of striker Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and young center-back Leny Yoro from Lille. Currently, they are also in the process of signing Manuel Ugarte and Matthijs de Ligt.
Manchester United needs to strengthen their midfield. According to the latest news, MU may let Casemiro go and not activate the €20 million purchase option for Sofyan Amrabat after he returns from Fiorentina. Scott McTominay is also attracting interest from several clubs such as Fulham, Tottenham, and Galatasaray. If McTominay leaves, Manchester United may need additional reinforcements beyond Ugarte.

“Manchester United has approached Richard Rios and is now preparing a £17 million bid for Palmeiras. AC Milan is also interested in this midfielder, but currently, Palmeiras has no intention of letting him go this summer.”
Richard Rios was a member of the Colombia national team that lost to Argentina in the Copa America final this summer. The 24-year-old has impressed with his outstanding performances, attracting attention from several top clubs.
Joining Palmeiras in March 2023, Rios has made 82 appearances and scored five goals for the club. He primarily plays as a central midfielder but can also operate as a number six. Whether he joins Manchester United or not, it seems likely that Rios will move to Europe this summer.
