(Spain wins Euro 2024) Spain has officially won the Euro 2024 championship after an emotional victory against England in the final.
On July 14 (UK time), the Euro 2024 final took place with a match between Spain and England.
True to the importance of the confrontation, both teams entered the game very cautiously and frequently created fierce clashes.
However, Spain controlled the ball more thanks to their world-class midfield. Despite this, they found it difficult to approach the goal of the Three Lions.
On the other hand, Gareth Southgate’s team played deep defensively but still created opportunities for themselves.
The most notable moment of the first half seemed to come in the 45th minute when Phil Foden’s shot was on target, but Spain’s goalkeeper Unai Simon made the save.
After the break, Spain surprisingly launched an early attack and scored the opening goal in the 47th minute. Yamal dribbled into the center before making a clear pass to Nico Williams, who sprinted down the left wing and finished sharply to break the deadlock in the final.
Trailing, the Three Lions immediately surged forward to find an equalizer. Consecutive waves of pressure were created in Spain’s half.
In the 73rd minute, England executed a well-coordinated attack. Bellingham set up Cole Palmer, who curled a left-footed shot from outside the box to beat goalkeeper Unai Simon, leveling the score at 1-1.
After equalizing, both teams played at a very high pace. But Spain continued to show dominance in ball control and penetrating the penalty area.
In the 86th minute, Cucurella surged down the left wing and crossed the ball perfectly for Mikel Oyarzabal to tap in from close range, scoring the second goal for Spain.
The remaining time was too short for Southgate’s team to turn the tide. In the end, Spain defeated England 2-1 after 90 minutes of regular play, securing their fourth Spain wins Euro 2024, setting a record for the tournament.
