The Czech Republic is about to face a tough match against title contender Portugal in Group F of Euro 2024. Before the match, Czech captain Tomas Soucek expressed the team’s determination.
At 2:00 AM on June 19, title contender Portugal will clash with the Czech Republic. Everyone knows that with their superior squad, Portugal is expected to win easily. However, the Czech Republic’s determination could pose a significant challenge to Ronaldo and his teammates.
Czech captain Tomáš Souček spoke before the match: “We will start with a 0-0 score and the chance to achieve a good result is great. We want to bring the game to them and not be seen as outsiders. Every point counts in this group. We all want to progress and we will give everything from the first minute to the last.”
Tomáš Souček, captain of the Czech national team, spoke to EURO2024.com: “I am pleased with the mood. We had a great training camp and five days in Hamburg. We have been in Leipzig for two days and my teammates and I feel very good. We are about to play one of the biggest matches of our careers.”
In the interview, Souček also focused on Ronaldo’s presence in Portugal’s lineup: “We know that if Cristiano gets a chance, he will score. We can’t give him any space. But it’s not just him; they have 25 more players from the best teams in Europe.”
Not only Soucek, but Patrik Schick also expressed respect for Ronaldo: “We will face each other as the best scorers of the last EURO. This will make the match more interesting. Losing the top scorer title to Cristiano in the last EURO? I don’t mind, I think competing with Ronaldo is something I am definitely proud of.”
In the last five head-to-head matches, Portugal has won four times, with Ronaldo contributing to two of those victories. Therefore, being cautious of Ronaldo is not excessive. The match between Portugal and the Czech Republic will be broadcast live on Recsport.
