Liverpool Close to Signing Anthony Gordon

According to Belfast Telegraph, Newcastle United wants to keep Anthony Gordon and will only consider selling him for a “very high” offer, around £80 million including add-ons.

On the other hand, Liverpool is still pursuing Gordon. Despite failing to secure him at the start of the summer, the Reds continue to show interest. Gordon is eager to join Liverpool, a club he has supported since childhood.

ESPN journalist Mark Ogden suggests that a deal could still happen, and Liverpool might secure Gordon’s signature before the transfer window closes at the end of August. If this occurs, Newcastle would face the loss of a key player in their squad.

Liverpool defender Joe Gomez has made it clear that he has no intention of leaving Anfield this summer, despite recent rumors linking him with a move to Newcastle United. Reports suggested that the English player could be part of a deal involving Anthony Gordon’s move to Liverpool.

According to The Times, despite discussions between Liverpool and Newcastle, talks never progressed to include Gomez in the exchange deal. Instead, the 27-year-old defender remains focused on his responsibilities and has had conversations with Slot about plans for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

Jose Mourinho Poised to Swoop in on Manchester United Target

According to Teamtalk, Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce is stepping up efforts to sign Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat from under Manchester United’s nose.

The Moroccan player caught the world’s attention with his outstanding performances for his country at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, helping his national team reach the tournament’s semi-finals.

Despite impressing in the final games of the season, Man United did not exercise the option to turn his loan into a permanent deal worth £21.4 million, with Amrabat returning to Fiorentina.

However, with United still struggling to secure a new midfielder, Amrabat could be a solid backup option for the Premier League giants.

If the Red Devils do not act quickly, they risk losing Amrabat to Fenerbahce or another club entirely. However, as the club is not keen on signing him, losing him would not be a disaster.

Man City Ambiguous About Julian Alvarez’s Future

Pep Guardiola has refused to comment on the negotiations between Atletico Madrid and Manchester City regarding the signing of Julian Alvarez.

Atletico Madrid has proposed a bid of around €55 million (£46.8 million), with add-ons potentially pushing the total cost to €70 million (£59 million). However, this offer falls short of Manchester City’s valuation of the forward.

Currently, Alvarez is in Paris to participate in the Olympics with the Argentine national team.

After Manchester City’s 4-2 victory over Chelsea in Ohio, Pep Guardiola said: “There is nothing to say. He is our player and will be back soon. When he returns, I will hug him and congratulate him on winning the Copa America, and then we will discuss the Olympics.”

Alvarez revealed that he would decide on his future after the Olympics. “There is a lot of speculation. Right now, I am focused on this tournament. I feel good at Manchester City and have played a lot. But after the Olympics, if possible, I will take a few days off and then make a decision,” he said.

The Spanish player moved to the Bavarian club in the winter transfer window last year but has yet to establish himself as an important player, mainly due to his inability to communicate in German.

Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl has made it clear that Zaragoza will not have much playing time in the upcoming season and that the best way forward is to find a new club.

Barcelona is interested in Zaragoza, with Deco particularly admiring his strong one-on-one ability against defenders. Deco attempted to sign the player in the last winter transfer window, but Bayern secured him with their stronger financial resources.

Barcelona knows that Bayern wants to sell the midfielder and may loan him this summer. However, Nico Williams remains the club’s top priority, and Zaragoza will only be considered if plans with Nico do not materialize.
