Replacing Xavi, Barcelona will reportedly sign a one-year contract with the UEFA’s best coach.

Xavi is reportedly set to leave Barcelona in the summer of 2024. Already, the Catalan club has found a suitable replacement.

Hansi Flick is the name most frequently mentioned recently as Barcelona‘s choice to replace Xavi at the end of the season.

According to a new report from Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan club has reached a preliminary agreement with the German coach. Barcelona will offer Hansi Flick a one-year contract with an option to extend for an additional year.

The one-year contract (with a one-year extension) is entirely strategic. If Flick stays on for an additional year, his tenure would coincide with the end of Joan Laporta’s term at Barcelona.

This suggests that appointing Flick could be one of Laporta’s final moves as he seeks to steer Barcelona out of economic and sporting turmoil. Furthermore, if Flick fails to meet Barcelona’s expectations, they can terminate his contract without significant compensation.

Hansi Flick is considered the ideal replacement for Xavi at Barcelona. While the club is also considering Rafa Marquez, the leadership prioritizes Flick due to his extensive experience. Flick had a successful tenure in Germany, leading Bayern Munich to seven major titles at the Allianz Arena, including the Champions League, and was named UEFA’s Best Coach for the 2019/20 season.

According to sources, Barcelona has not yet called a meeting with Xavi Hernandez but maintains its stance. Therefore, the Spanish coach appears likely to leave Camp Nou at the end of the season and become a free agent in the summer.

Xavi has been approached by a South Korean team for a long-term project, but the Barcelona coach has declined the offer. With many European clubs currently searching for coaches, Xavi can confidently seek a new destination.
