UEFA issues warning to fans ahead of Euro 2024 final

UEFA has issued a statement urging fans not to purchase tickets through third parties to watch the finals of UEFA club competitions and the upcoming Euro 2024 final.

Ahead of the Europa Conference League and Champions League finals, as well as the forthcoming European Championship (Euro) 2024, UEFA is calling on fans to buy tickets only through their official channels to avoid scams.

UEFA, the governing body of European football, is responsible for organizing club competitions such as the Champions League, Europa League, and Europa Conference League, along with Euro 2024—a tournament involving 24 national teams set to be held in Germany this summer.

To ensure safety and transparency for fans, UEFA sells official tickets for these tournaments exclusively through their website. Purchasing tickets from unauthorized third parties poses risks of fraud, counterfeit tickets, or higher prices than the original. Recently, UEFA has reported numerous cases of fans being scammed when buying tickets from unofficial websites. Therefore, they encourage fans to buy tickets only from UEFA’s official channels to ensure legality and reasonable prices.

Regarding ticket sales for their matches, UEFA enforces a very strict policy. All tickets for UEFA matches are digital and are distributed only through the organization’s official mobile ticketing app. No paper or print-at-home tickets are provided for UEFA-organized matches.

UEFA warns that any tickets purchased from third parties, such as websites, agents, social media, or ticket resales, “can be canceled by UEFA at any time, and fans may be denied entry or ejected from the stadium.” This measure aims to prevent unauthorized ticket sales and ensure that only genuine fans can purchase tickets.

Moreover, under certain laws, the unauthorized resale of football match tickets can actually constitute a criminal offense. UEFA states that this is an issue they take very seriously, and they actively enforce their ticket sales terms and conditions. UEFA also revealed that hundreds of tickets have been canceled ahead of this week’s Champions League final and the upcoming Euro 2024 final because these tickets “were offered or transferred in violation of the ticket sales terms and conditions.”

To avoid problems, fans are advised not to go to the stadium without a valid ticket, as entry will only be permitted upon presenting a legally purchased ticket from UEFA’s official distribution channels.
